Tips for Promoting Your Page

General:

  • To promote your page and reach a larger audience, try leveraging your social networking tools. Post a link to the page you've built on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ or wherever else you choose.
  • If you have an existing blog or website, you can embed your Pay It Square page directly into it. Look for "Advanced Embedding Options" when managing your page. We also provide you the ability to add your Pay It Square page as a tab to a Facebook page.
  • Feeling artsy? Try making your page look nice: it's easy to customize your page with an appropriate picture and a matching theme.
  • If our service has been useful to you, spread the word! Take advantage of our referral tool (click on "My Account", then "Referrals")  and earn some money by recommending Pay It Square to your friends and family.

Fundraisers:

  • Don't pass along fees! If someone is nice enough to donate money to your cause, it's a little rude to ask them to pay the service fees as well. We suggest paying the fees on behalf of the donors. You can change this setting by finding your page, clicking "Manage" then clicking "Edit Details".
  • Do your best to provide the donor with specific information about how their money is going to help. Donors want to be involved - let them know exactly how their money is going to help, and they'll feel even better about offering their financial support.
  • Make sure you check "Allow people to change the amount?" on your suggested donation, so that donors can give you as much as they'd like.

Events:

  • Get those invitations out early! This might sound obvious, but the more time you give people to pay you, the more likely it is that you'll have a great turnout and the finances will be squared away.
  • Going along with the above tip, be sure to take advantage of the automatic pay reminders. If you enable this function, our system will automatically send reminders to invitees who have not paid you. These reminders are sent out once every Sunday and Wednesday. We'll take care of the nagging for you!
  • Be sure to check out the "Advanced Settings" for each of the Pay Items on your page. This will allow you to do things such as set prices for those who pay late, at the door, or set a quantity available.

Group Payments:

  • Transparency is key. If the nature of your group payment is not private, consider diving into the "Advanced Settings" section of your page and showing the names of paid and unpaid people. This might create a little social pressure for everyone to make their payments in a timely fashion.
  • Is there specific information that you need from the people in your group payment? Using our "Custom Questions" feature, you can ask them! Their responses are captured when they check out and are viewable in your reports.
  • Depending on your purpose for collecting money, many of the tips for "Fundraisers" or "Events" may be helpful as well. Check them out!

Search Engine Tips

You want people to be able to find your page right away. Some people lose their link and have to use a search engine to find it again. Take some tips from here to make sure your page gets found.

  • Name your pictures. If you are going to upload a picture, name it the same as your title. Collect-money-for-my-fundraiser.jpg works much better than funny_picture_of_dave.jpg
  • Include what type of page you are setting up in the body of your paragraph. This will help search engines distinguish your page from the thousands of others on Pay It Square. Add something like "help me with my event organization online efforts by using Pay It Square!" instead of "use this Pay It Square site to pay me"
  • Share! Share! Share! If you are collecting money from your friends, post it on their walls! If you are fundraising, paste a link to your page on your site! Every extra link to your page could mean more donations.
