Mark has a disease called polycythemia vera.  This disease overworks the bone marrow by making too many red blood cells. Over the last 12 years he has been having phlebotomies, which is removal of the blood.

In the last few months things have taken a turn.  He has now burned out his bone marrow and is need of a bone marrow transplant. He is going to be starting chemotherapy to stabilize his blood counts to prepare him for the bone marrow transplant.

Mark has no siblings and we are blessed that a donor has been found.  We have the transplant tentatively scheduled for May 2, 2013 at the Carbone Cancer Center at UW Madison, Wisconsin.  Mark will be admitted on April 24th and will go through a chemo preparation process prior to the transplant.  He is expected to be in the hospital for 5 weeks.  The recovery time after that is appoximately 1 year.

Isaiah 58:8
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
